Greek Yogurt Bagels
There was a time not too long ago where I was making these bagels once a week. I would eat them for breakfast or as a snack pretty consistently. These bagels are considerably less guilty compared to regular bagels because of the Greek yogurt and they are extremely easy to make..
The original recipe is from Skinnytaste and can be found here.
To make these bagels, you will need Greek yogurt, flour, baking powder, salt, and egg whites.
Add the flour, salt, baking powder, and Greek yogurt to a medium bowl. I begin using a spatula to work the flour mixture into the yogurt before moving to kneading with my hands. You could flour a work surface to knead the dough, but I usually just keep it all in the mixing bowl to make clean up a bit easier. If the dough is too sticky, add more flour as needed.
Once the dough has formed, cut into 4 separate pieces. Roll the dough out and form into the bagel shape. Use a basting brush to brush egg white over each bagel. You can keep the bagels plain or add any topping you desire. I prefer Everything Bagel seasoning personally, but have made bagels with Asiago, sesame seeds, and poppy seeds in the past and they’ve all turned out delicious.
Bake the bagels at 375 degrees F for 30-35 minutes. Let them cool before cutting and serving.
